The United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and International Longshoremen Association (ILA) Contract Tech Company, Versiant, to implement New Data Collection System.

North Carolina based Managed Services Provider enables data centralization through Data Analytics for major United States maritime organizations, USMX and ILA.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – January 28, 2020 – Versiant, a Charlotte, NC based Managed Services Provider with deep capabilities around Data Analytics as a Service, Infrastructure Management as a Service, and Security as a Service today announces the execution of an agreement to implement a Data Collection System (DCS) for the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA).  It will collect data from 14 ports along the US Eastcoast and Gulf.  These ports will report on all aspects of labor management for the ILA membership

USMX is an alliance of container carriers, direct employers and port associations serving the East and Gulf Coasts of the US.  The International Longshoremen’s Association is the largest union of the maritime workers in north America and represents over 65,000 members, 200 locals and represented in 100 seaports. Through their new relationship with Versiant and the tech company’s Data Analytics capabilities, USMX and ILA will now be capturing and digitizing their labor management data in a central repository, thus eliminating discrepancies and boosting overall productivity.

“Designing a robust data collection system has been a passion for both USMX and the ILA and this solution will streamline capturing data and aid in accuracy.  This DCS solution deploys a modern platform that everyone will benefit from and helps streamline a manual paper process that exists for many of our customers.  We look forward to our partnership with Versiant” said Dave Adam-President of USMX.

“Our Ports, Employers and Labor unions hope to start seeing the benefits of this solution in the coming months. We are excited about working with Versiant on the DCS project and ensuring we provide the right worker for the job while ensuring that  they are paid correctly.”, said Josh Hertzberg-Director ILA.

In addition to the implementation of the DCS, Versiant will be rolling out software applications to improve the quality and timeliness of data collected.

“This is a multi-phased project that will span two (2) years” said Ed Reade, President & CEO of Versiant. “We are excited to be working so closely with both the United States Maritime Aliance and the International Longshoremen’s Association and their customers to deploy this solution that will revolutionize the logistics ecosystem. We will be deploying the Data Collection System using Microsoft technology stack along with robust reporting and analytics packages.

The requirement for this system implemented by Versiant has been established with a 5 year agreement between USMX and the ILA and executed in December of 2019. The overall goal by the start of 2022 is that all, employers and employees, are to be working off of the same data.
